On the first day of the visit, PM launched Mission DefSpace at DEFEXPO 2022 today at Gandhinagar in Gujarat. While addressing the DEFEXPO he said this Defence expo is a symbol of new beginnings. It is the first Defence expo where only Indian companies are participating with Made in India Defence products. Space technology in India is helping many developing countries. SAARC satellite is an example of this. Space technology is supporting maritime trade and activities. AIR correspondent reports that special incentives are being offered to MSMEs involved in defence production. Technologies development fund and iDEX have spurred the R&D in defence sector. National security is the primary priority for the government. DefExpo is introducing Indian defence manufacturing capabilities to the world. Here, we are seeing a glimpse of immense future possibilities in the Indian defence manufacturing sector. 53 African countries are standing shoulder to shoulder with India. Indian labourers were instrumental in laying the first railway line in Africa. Now, increasing Defence cooperation with giving new heights to India-Africa relations. The construction of Deesa airfield would improve National security and also provide impetus to the local economy. Mission DefSpace would give opportunity to the private sector the to show its strength and capabilities. Space technology in India is helping many developing countries. SAARC satellite is an example of this. Space technology is supporting maritime trade and activities. India was recognised as among the largest defence importers. Now, we are exporting defence e to more than 75 countries. Aim to increase Defence exports to 5 billion USD in near future. Many countries are showing interest in LCA Tejas.  68% of defence purchase budget would be used to procure from Indian firms. 25% of the research budget would be allocated to the youth.  There was a monopoly of a few defence suppliers across the world, who collaborated to prevent entry of new players, but India has now created a space for itself in this sector. Prime Minister will dedicate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth around 15 thousand 670 crore rupees during his visit. He will also lay the foundation stone of Deesa airfield in Gujarat. The forward airforce base will add to the security architecture of the country. At around 12 noon, Prime Minister will launch the Mission Schools of Excellence at Adalaj. The Mission has been conceived with a total outlay of 10,000 Crores. During the event at Trimandir, the Prime Minister will launch projects worth around  4,260 crore rupees. The Mission will help strengthen education infrastructure in Gujarat by setting up new classrooms, smart classrooms, computer labs and overall upgradation of the infrastructure of schools in the State. Then, he will proceed to Junagadh. At around 3:15 pm, Mr Modi will lay the foundation stone of various development projects worth 3,580 crore rupees in Junagadh. Thereafter, at around 6 pm, Prime Minister will inaugurate India Urban Housing Conclave 2022 and dedicate and lay the foundation stone of multiple key projects in Rajkot. He will also inaugurate the exhibition of innovative construction practices in Rajkot at around 7:20 pm. Tomorrow, Mr Modi will launch of Mission LiFE at Kevadia at around 9:45 AM. At around 12 noon, Prime Minister will participate in the 10th Heads of Missions Conference in Kevadia.
